If you work in the construction industry there is a set of regulations that have to be adhered to whether you are working for a large commercial client or undertaking a small job for a domestic client.

 

Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015

CDM is a legal requirement for any type of construction work on or in a commercial or domestic structure

 

Construction Work –

The carrying out of any building, civil engineering or engineering construction work and include:

'alteration …commissioning  … repair … redecoration or other maintenance (including cleaning which involves the use of water or an abrasive at high pressure, or the use of corrosive or toxic substances)...'

de-commissioning or dismantling of a structure.

 

Duty Holders -

Whatever your role is in construction you will have a duty to undertake within the regulations:

  1. Client – Commercial

  2. Client – Domestic

  3. Principle Designer

  4. Principle Contractor

These duties will differ for each of the above

 

Training and Awareness

If your company is involved with any of the defined 'Construction Work', you will require training and awareness.
