The main legislation governing for asbestos working:

  • The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2012
  • The Asbestos (Licensing)(Amendment) Regulations 1998
  • The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Special Waste Regulations 1996

There are now three categories for working with asbestos:-

  1. Non-licensed works
  2. NNLW
  3. Licensed works

Consider whether you have the relevant information, instruction, training and supervision for the works that you are asking your employee to do.
